Through the pandemic

She was of about my late grandma’s age by the time I was.a kid. She was selling street food in Hoi An, an ancient town in the centre of Vietnam. The whole town has been inactive for two years due to the pandemic. She just resumed her selling about month ago. She told me that before the pandemic, she could earn about USD 20 per day, and now, for her, USD 5 per day would be good enough. I, however, didn’t hear any complaint from her. The way she offered the food to me, made me recall my grand mother, carringly and lovingly. I guessed, with that small shop, she might have to take care of her family, like what my grand mother did about 40 years ago.
